Environmental Matters

Hansel Ltd pays comprehensive attention to matters related to the environment and to sustainable development in its operations. During 2008, attention to environmental matters was established as a standard part of Hansel’s framework agreement process. This means that environmental issues are taken into account in Hansel’s framework agreements whenever possible.

Major environmental benefits have been achieved, for instance in the framework agreements for office and IT supplies, where, for example, all office paper fulfils the criteria for environmental labelling. As another example, the choice of printers and multifunction machines pays particular attention to the energy efficiency of the hardware, the environmental impact of batteries, packaging materials, and the durability and recyclability of equipment.

Hansel aims to continue increasing its environmental competence, and has set up a work group on the environment with the aim of reinforcing the observation of environmental matters in tenders, of monitoring and participating in the country’s main environmental projects related to procurement, and of implementing an environmental system within the company.
